Update

Monday Josh met with his radiologist and while he was there they told him he has to see a nutritionist. He meets with the nutritionist next Friday. Hopefully he will be well enough to begin his chemotherapy and radiation treatments in about 3 weeks. On Tuesday he got a call saying that he has to have 4 more iron infusion treatments as of now. He had his second iron infusion yesterday and it went well. After his iron infusion he then had a appointment with his oncologist. Not sure how that went yet will let everyone know when i find out later. He has another iron infusion tomorrow.

Iron Infusion

On Monday he had his iron infusion and it went really well. He said that he got good sleep on Monday/Tuesday which is a good thing since he has a hard time sleeping. For now we are back to waiting. Waiting on the approval from someone for his PET Scan. He goes back to see his Oncologist next week sometime. Hopefully he will know when the radiation/chemotherapy will begin. That is if he doesn't need anymore shots for his blood. Just take one day at a time to help him get better.

Begining Of My Journey

I will use this blog to try and keep everyone up to date on what is going on with Josh. On June 1st he was diagnosed with Rectal Cancer. It has taken a little while to get everything completely figured out and what all is going to happen. He was suppose to start his chemotherapy and radiation next week but that has been put off for now. He was having breathing problems and was having chest pains so he went to the ER. When we were at the ER they did a ct scan and chest xray to see if the cancer had spread. It has not spread to those places. He found out that his breathing and chest pains are from being severely anemic. His hemoglobin count was at 6 and it should be between 14-18. Now he is working on getting his iron and red blood cells back up. They gave him a shot of procrit to help build his red blood cells up and on Monday he will be getting a iron infusion. Today he will go in and get his port put in for the chemotherapy. He will be getting a pet scan within the next week and his oncologist will be able to see everything that is going on. I am very thankful that he has a wonderful oncologist that he really like! If I have forgotten to write anything I will add it later. Thanks for being there for Josh on his Journey!!
